Welcome to our website! We are Ann and Will (and Charlotte the cat) and will be sharing our experiences cruising segments of the Great Loop on our trawler Knot Supersonic, from Westbrook, CT to Mackinaw Island, MI and back.

It might be good to start at the beginning. Will, having grown up in Southern California, of course loved the water and surfing, and then having sailed on the Naval Academy Sailing Team, came home one night after work and said “let’s get a boat and cruise the Great Loop”… Ann, having zero boating experience except for watching Below Deck, a cruise to the Bahamas in the 80s, and dating a guy with a bass boat for a couple months in high school, thought that sounded like an insanely great idea … insane being the operative word! So that’s how it began. We bought our DeFever trawler in 2020, docked it is Deale, Md and spent the next 4 years cruising the Chesapeake, the ICW from Norfolk, VA to Morehead City, NC and the Albemarle Sound getting to know the ins and outs of our boat. We officially retired in Feb 2025, found the time and can finally take the boat north of Baltimore.

Sooo, after a couple of years of planning, dreaming and discussing we are finally on our way to conquer the first part of the Great Loop – As we look forward to the next beautiful sight, big starry sky, interesting person we meet, and challenge/experience we encounter, we plan to share some of the most interesting (and not so interesting) parts of our voyage and hope it’s as entertaining for you as it promises to be for us!  Anchors Aweigh ⚓️
